Meghan Chen’s debut EP Cynic In The Making explores the short window of time when a teenager transitions into adulthood. Throughout this project, listeners will look at Meghan’s first experiences with love, sexuality, and understanding the world around her and her place in it. Meghan portrays a nuanced understanding of how women are treated, and the difference between how children are treated growing up and the sudden shift to adulthood when they are expected to fix everyone else’s problems. The EP blends pop, folk, and rock elements in a way that is addicting and indelible. The lead singles off of the EP – “Waterfall” and “Aphrodite” are a two-part story about the heartbreak and gut-wrenching anger that is experienced after Meghan’s ex-girlfriend said she loved her and then ghosted her. “Waterfall”’s intentional lyricism and beautiful melodies as well as “Aphrodite’s” anguish exhibited through the song’s cinematic rock ending, gets listeners excited for the full project coming Summer 2024!
